Creating a stream from the welcome page

The first time you visit samdesk, you will be asked to create a dashboard. Select 'Create a Dashboard' to get started.

You will be directed to a new Alerts Tab. Click the 3 dots shown on the tab to rename this tab for easy visibility.

Creating a stream from the stream builder

There are various ways to build a new stream for your dashboard

1) Click on the hamburger Menu in the top right corner and select 'Streams'

2) Select 'create a new one' shown in the middle of the new dashboard alerts tab

3) Click the stream drop-down in any alerts pane and select 'Create New Stream'

Build a New Stream

Step 1: Name your Stream

Your Stream will be a Global Stream by default and named so. Rename your stream to make it easily identifiable on your dashboard.

Step 2: Choose Alert Topics for your Stream

You are provided a selection of topics with sub-categories within to select which event types are important to you.

Step 3: Keyword Filters

You may type keywords and choose to include or exclude them from your stream.

Step 4: Location Filters

You may select up to 50 locations to monitor. You may select at the town level, up to a country or region, allowing you to be quite specific or broader in alert reporting.

Step 5: Proximity Filters

Any proximity lists of assets which have been loaded by your administrator are available to select. Check one or more boxes to add to your stream. When selected, this will limit the alerts shown to the geo proximity around the asset list. Distance is defined by the company administrator when an asset list is uploaded or modified.

Step 6: Notifications

Every samdesk user is able to select the method they wish to receive alerts for each stream built. Slack and Teams Webhooks must be pre-defined by your administrator.

When all of your selections are complete, Click ' Save Stream'

When you return to your alerts tab, it will now show as available to select in the Streams dropdown
